It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Dean’s Office website at Algoma University.
This website will provide you with information to assist you in your roles of teaching, research, and service. The site includes resources to enhance teaching, including evaluation samples, online course sources, procedures for grading submissions and appeals as well as research opportunities, with both internal and external grants. Probationary faculty preparing for reviews will find it helpful to navigate links on the process of evaluation, and others considering advancement (i.e., promotion), likewise. We encourage new program and course initiatives and the application procedures for doing so are contained here.
This website is designed for the sole purpose of assisting faculty to be successful in their career advancement so that they may excel in teaching, research and service. It is my belief that an enriched and stimulating environment for the faculty is the key to a high quality learning environment for our students. Outstanding faculty will propel the institution toward the recruitment of students on the basis of academic ability rather than any other consideration. Finding meaning and fulfillment in our work goes beyond developing disciplinary expertise. It comes with a commitment to establish an academic culture of the highest standards with respect to our programs, partnerships, research and the communities we impact.
